Semi45’s latest release, “No Key,” comes in swinging with raw energy and unapologetic aggression. Right out the gate, Semi wastes no time attacking the beat, dropping into the verse with zero hesitation. It’s that kind of immediacy and confidence that makes his presence hit so hard. The track gives off major Glokk40Spazz vibes in terms of energy and violence, but Semi 45 brings his own distinct sound and flow to the table. Choosing not to oversaturate the track with adlibs, but instead letting his delivery cut through the beat with sharp clarity. When the adlibs do come in, they’re subtle but effective, adding just enough support to keep the intensity up without overshadowing his main vocals. The beat is bumping and powerful. A heavy-hitting 808 anchors the track with a menacing drill-type bounce, it's the type track you can picture thugs listening too when getting ready for a drive by or something. There's a dark, cinematic vibe to it that makes this a perfect Halloween listen, especially if you’re into the grittier side of rap. One of my favorite bars from the track is, “I promise my gang before I lose life we finna be rich,” hits with a mix of ambition and fatalism that’s hard to ignore. It’s a bar that shows Semi’s mindset, do or die, but with dreams that go beyond the street. Having reviewed Semi 45 before, it’s clear he knows how to deliver energy that matches the beats he chooses. “No Key” is another example of how he continues to refine that formula — violent, high-energy, and hard as hell.
