There’s plenty of artists out there who want to get the insight on underground pages and if you clicked on this article that means you’re one of them. In this interview we'll be tapping into @youngtensai_ who is a underground page/streamer with over 26k followers on Instagram. After reading you'll be able to get more of an idea of the headspace of a underground page like his and also find out how to become more noticeable in their eyes. So without further ado lets get into it.

Who are you and what do you do?

I'm young tensai and I basically just run an underground rap page and do streaming events with the community.

Why do you do what you do?

I started this page because I was super into music and wanted to find a creative way to show love to the artists I fuck with. Over time I've grown the page and connected with way more creatives in the underground scene and just genuinely fuck with the community.

What are some of the best ways an artist can get noticed by a page like you?

Everyone I post or interact with or show love to are just people who reached out and showed love to my shit. The people who consistently pull up to the streams I do be showing mad love and I appreciate them for it.

What’s a piece of advice you’d give to upcoming artists trying to differentiate themselves from the rest?

The best thing you can do as an artist is take the time to experiment with different sounds and styles in the beginning. The best way to craft a good sound is to work nonstop testing your artistic boundaries until you figure out exactly what resonates the most with you. Trust bro if you just keep working on creating your own world with your music you will attract other people who fuck with the vision. Just trust yourself and the process, it takes years.

What are your opinions on the current state of the underground and what are some things you’d like to see improved?

The underground is fire in terms of the music, lame artists just be hopping on trends and dickeating shit which makes it annoying sometimes lol. In time all the bullshit will fix itself because all the posers using the underground for clout will fade out because they got no substance.

You do music, run the page, streams, edit your own videos, and much more, how do you organize your time accordingly and what advice would you give to other trying to organize their time?

The best advice you can ever receive in your life is just to follow your creative instincts at all times. What that means is whatever seems the most exciting to you at the moment, whether it be making a song, making a reel, making a beat, or whatever just do it. The most creatively successful people all have multiple outlets, just look at Kanye with music and yeezy’s, Tyler The Creator with his tv show and his music, Virgil Abloh used to dj and made one of the best clothing brands of all time, etc.

How important would you say it is to learn multiple skills considering you do music, cover art, and video editing?

I honestly can’t give advice on this because the people who wanna get shit done will get shit done no matter what. I never started to do new shit or learn a new skill just to learn it, I always had a problem or goal in mind and did whatever was necessary to achieve it. I think the thing that separates successful people and unsuccessful people is that successful people always figure out a way to get any problem/job handled using their own resourcefulness, whereas unsuccessful people get overwhelmed and don't try.

What is some advice you’d give to artists who are new to participating in streams like song wars and music reviews?

shiiit fr just have fun with that shit. join communities and events that seem enjoyable to you and network with other ppl who be in the stream comments

Who are some underground artists you’ve been listening to recently/want to put on?
